Art and Lettering by Brett Weldele
This began as a prose story I wrote many years ago. I came across it as I was writing the scripts for this collection, and realized that it had potential for the comic form. My main goal for this story was to practice restraint, to choosing drama over melodrama.
Still, I knew this story would only work with the right artist; someone with the ability to choreograph some complex visual sequences, while also showing the heavy emotional burden carried by our two main characters. Needless to say, I was thrilled and Brett Weldele agreed to illustrate this story, and downright ecstatic when I received his art. His gorgeous multimedia work elevated the story to a level I had never imagined.
